Starting school

The boys started school just a few days after we arrived.  We were able to go for an orientation to see the school, but we didn't get to meet the teachers until the first day of school!  That made for a nervous Mama.  And, when I was able to meet them, I couldn't say anything because I don't even know how to speak FRENCH!
We had to take first day of school pictures!

Zeke is in a preschool class which is mostly 5 year olds, and they are doing things that prepare them for first grade.  Zeke is the only student in his class that speaks English, although his teacher will speak to him in English at times.  Theo is in a split 3 and 4 year old preschool class.  There is one other boy in Theo's class that speaks English, but their teacher said they never talk to each other.  So, the boys are really in French immersion!

They are doing well with a few bumps along the way.  They go to school M, T, Th, and F each week with Wednesday off.  We have the same schedule.  They have to be at school at 8:50am, then picked up by us at noon for lunch.  Then, we are back at school at 1:35 until 4:45pm.   It is a long day, but I am really thankful for the break at lunch to check in with them and spend some extra time with them.  Plus, we have a 15 minute walk each way between our home and their school.  We usually either walk with the stroller or are able to take the bus at times.
Jonah is also in nursery full time here at our school.  That has been an adjustment both for him and for me!  But, I think things are going well and he is hearing LOTS of french every day.
 Our ride to school!
A few pics from Theo's classroom.
